A father, grandfather, and lifelong resident of New York City, Juan is an honorably retired New York State law-enforcement officer who is working hard to restore hope and to help save our neighborhoods by running for New York State Senate.

Juan, a former member of the NYCDOE Community Education Council, Manhattan representative of the Citywide Council of High Schools, is standing up for our children who attend public schools, exposing the inequities inflicted upon the NYC Public School system.
Juan is formerly educated in Criminal Justice and will bring his education and experience as well as his personal connection to our neighborhoods to keep our focus on crime and safety.
Juan has been for many years closely involved with children, coaching and mentoring them in wholesome directions. He was the director of two cherished NYC children's centers and a guidance counselor with the NYS Division for Youth. He will ensure our kids have the best representation.
Juan visits elementary school children every Friday morning at a local public school to read to them and sing songs accompanied with his guitar.
Culture, diversity, commerce: Juan has a platform to support all of these critical aspects of community life. For example, Juan has been a musician since childhood and understands the importance of the arts. He will promote arts & culture in our communities and in our schools.
When I think about my granddaughter, I wonder what kind of world will she live in once I'm gone. It will be the kind of world we leave to her. She will know my legacy, that I fought very hard to make this world a better place for her and the rest of humanity.
New York City has had a dismal history of low voter turnout. By reaching out to our youth, particularly those attending high school, we can begin to increase voter turn out while teaching our youth to research candidates before making their decision at the ballot box.
Downsizing and closures of certified nursing homes and medical facilities are depriving our senior citizens and those with disabilities of beds they need. We need to preserve whatever nursing home beds and medical facilities are left in our district and in our neighboring districts throughout Queens, and for the sake of our elders, create more long-term care facilities.
