As your State Senator, I will advocate for city, state, and federal funding to maintain, repair, and erect critical urban infrastructure.
Bursting Pipes & Sinkholes. Aging infrastructure under streets need modernization. It is senselessly costly to wait for pipes to burst and put lives in danger.
Schools. Many schools are aging and have mold, poor heating, and lack hot water. These shortcomings should be prioritized in the city budget and the NYS Dormitory Authority should underwrite bonds to ensure our students are safe.
Subways. Our subways are the circulatory system of the city. They are an embarrassment compared to comparable systems in European and Asia. We need to expedite modernization, impose MTA cost controls, and institute a rigorous schedule of maintenance and replacement in every station.
Bridges. What would river-edged Manhattan and the city be without its bridges? Walk across them and you see rust everywhere. I will work to ensure funds from the Federal Infrastructure Act are directed to the repair, maintenance, and replacement of the city's critical infrastructure.
